Overview

Innovative Partnerships Group was engaged by the emerging NGB USA Team Handball (USATH) to secure long-term revenue in preparation for the 2028 Olympic games. Innovative Partnerships Group was tasked with finding a partner that could expedite the growth of handball and help USATH’s mission to make handball “America’s Next Great Sport”.

Challenge

Based on their limited staff and budget, USA Team Handball lacked the internal resources to build, identify, and secure long-term partnerships. Innovative Partnerships Group and USA Team Handball identified an opportunity with Verizon to become the official telecommunication partner and secure the jersey naming rights entitlement.

Innovation

Innovative Partnerships Group utilized its Partnership Intelligence™ system to build new grassroots platforms that allowed USATH to grow the sport in the inner cities through leveraging Verizon’s cause marketing and community efforts. The ability to create unique assets during off-Olympic cycles allowed Verizon to help build an emerging sport in the USA.

Result

USA Team Handball became Verizon’s first jersey entitlement partner. Verizon serves as the Founding Partner of USA Team Handball.
